A Wrinkle in Time-By: Madeline L'Engle
Summary:A
Wrinkle in Time is about a girl named Meg Wallace, her
brother Charles Wallace, and her friend Calvin O’Keefe going on an adventure to
find Meg’s and Charles’s father when he was lost for a very long time trying
out a machine called a tesser. It was a dark and stormy night when Meg decided
to go on a walk with her brother Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe when Mrs.
Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which came out of nowhere and taking them to places
out of Earth such as Uriel and Camatotz to fight the Black Thing which spreads
darkness and could kill you if it goes through you and IT which is a brain that
can control everything on Camatotz. Meg, Charles, and Calvin arrived at
Camatotz when they were brought to a man that was controlled by IT, Charles
then stared deeply into his red eyes and then was also controlled by IT. Meg
then goes face to face with IT trying to free her brother from being controlled
by IT and her father found in a locked box. Meg then freed her father from the
box by using Mrs. Who’s glasses that can rearrange the atoms in box to let them
free, but now she would need to free her brother who is being controlled by
IT. Meg went to IT to free her brother with
something she has but the brain doesn’t, it was love. In the end Meg freed her
father from the box, she freed her brother from IT, and she went away from
Camatotz then back to earth where she belonged with her family.
Protagonist and Antagonist- A Wrinkle in Time have one protagonist named Meg Wallace. Meg is the
protagonist because she makes events happen such as getting on Camatotz, saving
her brother from IT, and almost being killed by the Black Thing. Meg is a hero
for destroying the brain, freeing her father, and freeing her brother from IT. The Antagonist is IT. IT is a brain that rules
the people of Camatotz by controlling their every movement. Due to IT
controlling the people on Camatotz the people move at the same time, doing the
same thing, if not IT will put them to sleep forever.
Theme: The theme of A Wrinkle in Time is Good vs. Bad for the control of the universe and courage. Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Who represent good in the world, while the forces of evil are represented by the Black Thing, the man with the red eyes, or IT. When Meg and her family are involved with the problem, Meg has to fight for her father’s freedom, her brother’s freedom, and she would have to tesser away from Camatotz. Courage is also a theme in the story because Meg is known for being not so smart and foolish. Meg uses courage to tesser back to Camatotz to free her brother, which is big risk because IT could control you and you would be controlled by IT too. Meg was risking her life just to save her brother from being stuck there forever.

Book Review: A Wrinkle in Time is a story about time and time travelling. My opinion about this book is that the book is excellent because the story has a problem; the story has bad guys, and many amazing events such as Mrs.Whatsit turning into a Pegasus, Meg fighting IT for her brother, and many more thrilling events. I give a thumps up because I love how there’s always a twist in the book. My rating is four stars because there were times I could not understand the book and times where I love and understand the book. I suggest this book to ages 9-14 because there were some parts with violence, and Madeline L’Engle have always wanted to make it a teen book not a children book.
