Archbishop José H. Gomez Reflection
In Archbishop José H. Gomez’s article, “What are we working for?” persuades us
to appreciate others serving God with any job they do. Many difficult daily jobs such as,
“farmers, shoemakers, weavers, smiths, carpenters, traders, homebuilders, bakers, and
more” P. 1, PAR. 10 are looked down upon by people because they are not a high paid
jobs. Gomez informs us about his favorite member of the Communion of Saints, Blessed
Salvador Huerta Gutiérrez, with his devotion to God, his loyalty to his family, and his
successful business because of their “honesty, integrity, and high quality service.” P. 1,
PAR 7. José wishes us to “respect the dignity of work” P. 2, PAR. 16 and we may always
work with integrity like Gutiérrez.
