Discussion Questions:
1.) What are the "laws of club and fang" that Buck learned in Chapter 2? How are these laws different from what Buck was used to?
Laws the Dogs go by, the rules is if you do something bad you get hit, if you do something wrong with a dog or else you will get bitten.
The laws are different because Buck has a home and he doesn't in the wild, buck gets large meals and in the wild he gets some raw salmon, and he is treated well or fairly but in the wild you get beaten or abused.
2.) What is the one thing that Dave and Sol-leks live for? Why do you think they are like this? How do you think they got this way? Can you think of examples of other animals or humans that show these traits? What does this tell you about animal and human nature?
They live for because they want to be left alone, they want to be left alone because from their prior experiences, they dont like anyone or they are not happy from their past experiences in life.
3.) If you were Buck, which of the other sled dogs would you choose to be your teacher and why? How is this dog like or unlike Francois as a teacher?
I would choose Billie becasu he wants to be friends and Billie knows a lot from his life or maybe becaus ebillie is easy going but maybe is can be strict when he is a teacher
4.) What trait insures that Buck will survive in the north? How is this aspect of his character shown in the story? How would this trait be accepted in his former life? What does this say about the differences in the two worlds?
Buck is able tocatches on quickly,Buck is athletic, Buck understands and learns quickly, Buck can be smarter since he learns very quickly, Buck learning things in the wild is different becaus he is doing things that are not okay.
5.) Explain the meaning of the following quotation:
"And not only did he learn by experience, but instincts long dead became alive again. The domesticated generations fell from him. In vague ways he remembered back to the youth of the breed, to the time the world dogs ranged in packs through the primeval forest and killed their meat as they ran it down...Thus, as a token of what a puppet thing life is, the ancient song surged through him and he came into his own again."
Buck is being more of a wolf than a pet since he is learning or becoming more of a wild animal.

4.) How fair is the division of food among the dogs? Argue for the plan or for an alternate method, giving reasons for your argument.
The division of food among the dogs is not fair because some dogs are larger like Buck who needs more food than teh other dogs. The food they give the dogs may not be good since the food is raw and some animals are not used to it and becasue that raw is just not healthy to it unless you are a wil animal or youre already used to eating something raw. If your used to the the raw then your okay but if your not than you can get sick.
